Estonian National Opera mini-concerts

We present you Estonian National Opera’s online mini concert series!

From May 7 until June 20 Estonian National Opera opera soloists and orchestra musicians perform 30 minute concerts where we will be celebrating composers’ anniversaries, showcasing solos from our repertoire performances and our artists’ favourite pieces. We offer an opportunity to listen some excerpts from Georg Ots’ repertoire, classics of instrumental music and teasers from Donizetti’s comic opera “Don Pasquale”.

The concert Jubilate Eino Tamberg 90 takes place on Wednesday, May 27 at 19. Eino Tamberg, the grand old man of Estonian music, has given the audience a number of musical masterpieces during more than fifty years, including “Cyrano de Bergerac”, one of the greatest Estonian operas. It is also the first Estonian stage production broadcasted to the international audience by Euroradio in 1999. Tamberg has composed over 130 musical pieces performed in many European countries and in North America. The concert will feature excerpts from the opera and other musical pieces. The performers will be Kristel Pärtna (soprano), Helen Lokuta (mezzo-soprano), Mehis Tiits (tenor), Rauno Elp (baritone), Jassi Zahharov (baritone), Olev Ainomäe (oboe), Edmunds Altmanis (clarinet), Marius Järvi (cello), Tarmo Eespere (piano).

On Thursday, May 21 starting from 7 PM our audience will be able to enjoy the mini-concert titled Evviva Verdi!. The oeuvre of the most famous Italian composer is full of love, be it the love for one’s country, fatherly feelings for the children or a gentleman’s passion for a lady. All this can be heard in the superb melodies of his works. The concert will feature excerpts from the opera Giovanna d’Arco that was due to premiere this spring and from the timeless love story La traviata. The performers will be Aare Saal (baritone), Elena Brazhnyk (soprano) and Iva Sillamaa (piano).

The concert Voice of the Heart took place on Thursday, May 14 at 19. During the time when the ideas of intimacy and freedom are redefined the world needs love more than ever before. This concert includes music from composers in whose work love has been on the centre stage. Kristel Pärtna (soprano), Mehis Tiits (tenor), Tiit Pärtna (double bass) and Jaanika Rand-Sirp (piano) performed music from Bottesini, Verdi, Gounod and Donizetti.

The first concert Jubilate – Tchaikovsky 180 took place on May 7 at 19.00 and was dedicated to the great Russian composer Pyotr Tchaikovsky. The concert was performed by Heli Veskus (soprano), Sigrid Kuulmann (violin), Priit Volmer (bass) and Tarmo Eespere (piano).

Hopefully we’ll meet very soon at the theatre. Until then – „Show must go on(line)!“

The concerts run through May to mid-June on Estonian National Opera Facebook page and homepage.
