Tamara Gallo received her degrees from the San Francisco Conservatory and the University of Tennessee, and was a member of the Young Artist Program at the Knoxville Opera Company. She studied acting at the Academy Drama School in London and the Actor’s Conservatory Theater in San Francisco, and completed her acting training at the Emmy Award-winning South Coast Repertory Theatre in Southern California. She is also proud to have studied with the famous Groundlings Theatre, UCB and Lesly Kahn in Los Angeles.
Praised for her vocal sovereignty and finely nuanced acting, Tamara Gallo has established herself as a dynamic singing actress. She is currently moving into the more dramatic repertoire, including roles such as Verdi’s Lady Macbeth, Kundry in “Parsifal”, and the title role in “La Gioconda”. She made her most recent appearance as Mayor Krystal Lambert at the world premiere of Gregory Vajda’s opera “Georgia Bottoms”, based on Mark Childress’ best-seller of the same name (Huntsville Symphony Orchestra, 2015). Her repertoire includes the title role in Offenbach’s “La belle Hélène”, Lady Billows (Britten’s “Albert Herring”), Strauss’ Ariadne (“Ariadne auf Naxos”) and Marianne (“Der Rosenkavalier”), Daughter (Hindemith’s “Cardillac”), Mozart’s Erste Dame (“Die Zauberflöte”), Donna Elvira (“Don Giovanni”), the Countess (“Le nozze di Figaro”), the Mother (Menotti’s “Amahl and the Night Visitors”), Gertrud (Humperdinck’s “Hänsel und Gretel”), Dido (Purcell’s “Dido and Aeneas”), Santuzza (Mascagni’s “Cavalleria rusticana”), Mimì (Puccini’s “La bohème”), Hanna (Lehár’s “Die lustige Witwe”), Rosalinde (Strauss’ “Die Fledermaus”), Lucy (Brecht/Weill’s “The Threepenny Opera”). A champion of modern music, Tamara Gallo sang the world premiere of Erik Højsgaard’s “Don Juan kommt aus dem Krieg” at the Theater an der Wien. She also performed in the European premiere of Anthony Davis’ opera “Tania” and in the world premiere of Dieter Kaufmann’s “Requiem für Picoletto” at the Neue Oper Wien. A regular on the concert stage, Gallo has appeared in concert with the Salzburg Mozart Ensemble, the Slovak Sinfonietta, the Knoxville Symphony, the Kingsport Symphony Orchestra. Tamara Gallo’s passion for the performing has earned her film & TV credits, and many theatre credits.
