Maxim Paster graduated from Kharkov Music College as a chorus master (1994) and Kharkov Institute of Arts as a vocalist (Prof. Lyudmila Tsurkan) and the chamber singing class of Diana Gendelman (2003). In the same year he made his debut with the National Opera of Ukraine (Verdi’s “Requiem”) and with the Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow (Bayan in Glinka’s “Ruslan and Lyudmila”). His repertoire includes Tchaikovsky’s Andrey (“Mazepa”) and Lensky (“Eugene Onegin”), Rimsky-Korsakov’s Berendey (“Snegurotchka”), Lykov (“The Tsar’s Bride”) and Mozart (“Mozart and Salieri”), Verdi’s Macduff (“Macbeth”), Alfredo (“La traviata”), Riccardo (“Un ballo in maschera”), Duke (“Rigoletto”), Puccini’s Pinkerton (“Madama Butterfly”), Rodolfo (“La bohème”), Wagner’s Steersman (“Der fliegende Holländer”), Walther von der Vogelweide (“Tannhäuser”), Nemorino (Donizetti’s “L’elisir d’amore”), Prokofiev’s Mephistopheles (“The Fiery Angel”), Trufaldino (“The Love for Three Oranges”), Mussorgsky’s Prince Vassily Shuisky (“Boris Godunov”), Prince (Dvořák’s “Rusalka”), Hoffmann (Offenbach’s “Les Contes d’Hoffmann”), Italian singer (Strauss’ “Der Rosenkavalier”) among others. He has also an extensive oratorio repertoire, including solo parts in requiems by Mozart, Salieri, Verdi, Webber, Donizetti and Dvořák, “Stabat Mater” by Rossini and Dvořák, Rossini’s “Petite messe solennelle”, “St. Matthew Passion” by Bach, Bruckner’s “Te Deum”, Britten’s “Les illumination”, Rachmaninov’s “The Bells”, Beethoven’s “Missa Solemnis”, etc. Maxim Paster has toured many famous venues, such as Teatro di San Carlo, Teatro Communale di Bologna, Teatro Lirico di Cagliari, Tchaikovsky Concert Hall, the Great Hall of the Moscow State Conservatory, Helikon-Opera, Dresden Semperoper, Theatre du Capitole, etc. He is the winner of many prestigious awards, including 2nd prize at the International Antonin Dvořák Singing Competition (2000), 1st prize and a special prize at the Amber Nightingale International Competition of Chamber Singing (2002), Grand Prix at the Solovyanenko Nightingale Fair Competition (2002), special prize at the Pyotr Tchaikovsky Singing Competition (2002, 3rd prize and Kozlovsky prize for the best tenor of the competition in 2007) among others.
