Leslie Travers

Leslie Travers graduated from Cleveland College of Art and Design (1989) and from Wimbledon School of Art (1992). He has created costume and set designs for many productions, including opera, ballet and drama. Designs for opera include Tchaikovsky’s “Eugene Onegin” (2012, Opera Holland Park), Mozart’s “Don Giovanni” (2012, Garsington Opera), Händel’s “Julius Caesar” (2012, Opera North), Leoš Janáček’s “Jenufa” (2012) and Offenbach’s “Les Contes d’Hoffmann” (2011, both at Malmö Opera), Gounod’s “Romeo and Juliet” (2010, Opera Ireland), Schafer’s “The Children’s Crusade” (2010, Luminato Festival, Canada), Bellini’s “I Capuleti e i Montecchi” (2009, Opera North, Opera Australia and Opera Ireland), Vicente Martin y Soler’s “L’arbore di Diana” (2009 Palau de les Arts Raina Sofia), Reinhard Keiser’s “The Fortunes Of King Croesus” (2008, Opera North, Minnesota Opera), Mozart’s “Le Nozze di Figaro” (2006, Graz Opera) for which he received the Ring Award (2005). His awards also include Japan Asahi Award for Best Overall Theatrical Production of the Year (Tchaikovsky’s “Swan Lake”, 2004 and “The Nutcracker”, 2006), Arthur Peter Design Award (Noon’s “Vurt”, 2001).
