Kristina Vähi has graduated from the Georg Ots Tallinn Music School (Professor Mare Jõgeva) in 1996 and the Estonian Academy of Music in the field of solo singing in 2000 (Professor Riina Airenne). She has completed her education in the Hague Royal Conservatoire (2001) and in 2003 she received her Master’s degree as an opera singer at the Estonian Academy of Music (Professor Tamara Novitchenko). She has participated in various courses and master classes, lead by Eva Märtson, Judith Beckman, Matti Pelo etc.
Kristina Vähi has won 1st prize in Klaudia Taev Competition for Young Singers (1996). Since 2006 Kristina Vähi is the soloist of the Estonian National Opera. She has sung also in the performances of theatre Vanemuine, Kuressaare Opera Festival, and has participated in different musicals. Since 1997 she is a soloist of ensemble Operetta Scretta.
Her roles include Adina (Donizetti’s L’elisir d’amore), Baroness (Lortzing’s Der Wildschütz), Menotti’s Lucy (The Telephone), Monica (The Medium) and Miss Pinkerton (The Old Maid and the Thief), Ännchen (Weber’s Der Freischütz), Oscar (Verdi’s Un ballo in Maschera), Adele (Strauss’ Die Fledermaus); Mozart’s Zerlina (Don Giovanni), the First Lady (Die Zauberflöte) and Despina (Così fan tutte); Nedda (Leoncavallo’s Pagliacci), Ninetta (Prokofiev’s The Love for Three Oranges), Lisa (Kálmán’s Gräfin Mariza), Damon (Händel’s Acis and Galatea), Rossini’s Fanny (La cambiale di Matrimonio) and Clorinda (La Cenerentola), etc. She has also sung in musicals and given recitals. Kristina Vähi has won the 1st Prize in Klaudia Taev International Competition for Young Singers (1996).
