Cataldo Caputo studied singing at the State Conservatory of “Niccolo Piccinni” (Bari) with Luigi De Corato and musicology at University of Lecce. His repertoire includes the following leading tenor roles: Alfredo (Verdi’s “La traviata”), the title role in Massenet’s “Werther”, Rossini’s Count Almaviva (“Il barbiere di Siviglia”), Don Ramiro (“La Cenerentola”), Osiride (“Mosé in Egitto”), Edoardo (“La Cambiale di matrimonio”), Albazar (“Il turco in Italia”), Belfiore (“Il viaggio a Reims”), Donizetti’s Nemorino (“L’elisir d’amore”), Ernesto (“Don Pasquale”), Tonio (“La fille du regiment”), Tebaldo (Bellini’s “I Capuleti e i Montecchi”), Paolino (Cimarosa’s “Il matrimonio segreto”) as well as tenor parts in grand forms, such as Mozart’s Requiem and “Coronation Mass”, Rossini’s “Stabat Mater” and “Petite messe solennelle”, Garcìa’s “Missa Sancta Cecilia”, Händel’s “Messiah”, Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9, Stravinsky’s “Pulcinella” and many others. He has sung in many famous venues, including Teatro alla Scala, Teatro dell’Opera di Roma, Teatro San Carlo, Severance Hall in Cleveland, St. Petersburg Philharmonia, etc. Cataldo Caputo has won several international singing competitions: “Ferruccio Tagliavini” in Deutschlandsberg (Austria, 2003) and “Tito Schipa” singing competition in Lecce (2009). He also received the prize “Best Tenor” prize at Graz singing competition.
