Agnieszka Rehlis graduated with distinction from the K. Lipiński Academy of Music in Wrocław. She debuted at the Wrocław Opera in 1996 with the role of Jadwiga in Moniuszko’s “Haunted Manor”. She was a soloist with the theatre until 2007. Her repertoire includes Verdi’s Fenena (“Nabucco”), Flora (“La traviata”), Meg Page (“Falstaff”), Maddalena (“Rigoletto”), Preziosilla (“La forza del destino”), Azucena (“Il trovatore”) and Emilia (“Otello”), Siebel (Gounod’s “Faust”), Mercédès (Bizet’s “Carmen”), Euridice (Rudziński’s “Antigone”) and Mozart’s Cherubino (“Le nozze di Figaro”) and Dorabella (“Così fan tutte”), Judith (Bartók’s “Bluebeard’s Castle”), Hudel (Bock’s “Fiddler on the Roof”), Countess (Giordano’s “Andrea Chenier”), Laura (Ponchielli’s “La gioconda”), Puccini’s Frugola (“Il tabarro”), Suzuki (“Madama Butterfly”), Dido (Purcell’s “Dido and Aeneas”), Rosina and Berta (Rossini’s “Il barbiere di Siviglia”), Strauss’ Composer (“Ariadne auf Naxos”), Diaconess (Szymanowski’s “King Roger”), Wagner’s Fricka (“Das Rheingold” and “Die Walküre”) among others. In 2003 she had her debut at the Grand Theatre-National Opera in Warsaw as Fenena in Verdi’s “Nabucco”. She has given many concerts and performed in major festival venues all over the world. Krzysztof Penderecki’s work forms an important part of her repertoire: she has recorded and promoted the composer’s works at many concerts both in Poland and abroad, including “Polish Requiem” (available on DVD, Polish Audiovisual Publisher, 2005), “Te Deum” (also available on CD, Naxos, 2006), “Credo” and “Seven Gates of Jerusalem” under the baton of the composer himself. She has also sung at the world premiere of his Symphony No. 8 “Lieder der Vergänglichkeit” (“Songs of Transitoriness”, also available on CD, Naxos, 2006). In 2014 she debuted at the Houston Grand Opera as Hannah in Weinberg’s “The Passenger” and in 2015 she made her debut at the Lyric Opera of Chicago with the same role. On November 9, 2014 Agnieszka Rehlis performed in the world premiere of the latest composition by Penderecki, “Dies Illa”, written to commemorate the First World War. She won the 1st Prize at the Franciszka Platówna Vocal Competition in Wrocław and the 3rd Prize at the 3rd Interuniversity Vocal Competition at Duszniki Zdrój.
