Estonian National Opera celebrates Pyotr Tchaikovsky’s 180th anniversary
Estonian National Opera celebrates Pyotr Tchaikovsky’s 180th anniversary and begins with a series of mini-concerts. To celebrate the birthday of the most famous Russian composer, a mini-concert will be made availabe on the theatre’s virtual channels on May 7. On Saturday, May 9 at 7 PM Tchaikovsky’s opera „The Queen of Spades“ will be streamed on Estonian National Opera’s Facebook page. This week the invigorating series of morning ballet excercises will be also performed to the composer’s music.
The first mini-concert is titled „Jubilate – Tchaikovsky 180“ and is performed by Heli Veskus (soprano), Sigrid Kuulmann (violin), Priit Volmer (bass) and Tarmo Eespere (piano).
From now on, the audience will be able to enjoy a mini-concert every Thursday on the theatre’s website as well as on Facebook page. Estonian National Opera opera soloists and orchestra musicians will perform 30 minute concerts where they will be celebrating composers’ anniversaries, showcasing solos from the theatre’s repertoire performances and the artists’ favourite pieces. We offer an opportunity to listen to some excerpts from Georg Ots’ repertoire, classics of instrumental music and teasers from Donizetti’s comic opera “Don Pasquale”.
