Estonian National Opera continues streaming performances online also this Saturday. On April 25 at 7 PM a ballet by Toomas Edur, „Modigliani – the Cursed Artist“ will be shown on the National Opera’s Facebook page. The composer of the ballet is Tauno Aints and the world premiere of this production took place in 2012.

The ballet tells an exciting story of the stormy life of Amedeo Modigliani (1884–1920), one of the most famous bohemian artists of early 20th century. Modigliani’s eccentric nature, passionate affairs, his rivalry with Picasso, health and addiction issues – all of it provides plenty of colourful material for the birth of an astonishing stage-work.

„This is a story about the artist’s relentless pursuits as an idiosyncratic creator, and passionate love that has no limits.“ This is how the chorepgrapher describes the main plot of Modigliani’s story.

Saturday’s performance was recorded in collaboration with Estonian National Broadcasting in January 2014. The conductor is Risto Joost, the designer Liina Keevallik, the performers include Anatoli Arhangelski, Alena Shkatula, Sergei Upkin and many others.

The online performance begins on April 25 at 7 PM and will remain online for a week. Watching the performance is free of charge. The viewer does not need to have a Facebook account. The performance can be viewed here.
