On September 4 and 15, choreographer and ballet dancer Eve Mutso will perform the lead role in the ballet “Streetcar Named Desire”.

The role of Blanche DuBois in the ballet, which premiered at the Scottish Ballet in 2012, was especially created for Eve Mutso.

“Half a year before the role came to my repertoire, I read the original play and other plays by Tennessee Williams. I read his biography, watched the famous movie and let it all settle in,” says Mutso. She adds: “The storyline and the development of the character is very logical. Also, how DuBois’ personality doesn’t adapt to the society.”

Estonian National Ballet is the second company in the world to have the right to perform this production. It has been in the repertoire for two years, but September 4 and 15 will be the first chance for Estonian audience to see Eve Mutso as Blanche DuBois.
