Denis Klimuk in „Swan Lake“ by Tchaikovsky

On May 31 and June 12, Saint-Petersburg State Academic Leonid Yacobson Ballet Theatre’s soloist Denis Klimuk will be starring as Prince Siegfried in „Swan Lake“ by Tchaikovsky.

Denis Klimuk graduated from Belarusian State Choreographic College in 2002. In 2003–2013, he was a principal soloist with the Bolshoi Opera and Ballet Theatre of the Republic of Belarus. In 2014—2018, Klimuk was a principal dancer at the Estonian National Ballet.

His repertoire includes the Master (Tubin’s “The Goblin”), the title role in Cranko’s “Onegin”, Thyl Ulenspiegel (Yelizariev’s “Legend of Thyl Ulenspiegel”), Spartacus (Khachaturyan’s “Spartacus”), God and Adam (Petrov’s “Creation of the World”), Paris and Tybalt (Prokofiev’s “Romeo and Juliet”), Tchaikovsky’s Prince Désiré (“The Sleeping Beauty”), Prince Siegfried and Rothbart (“Swan Lake”), Drosselmeyer and Arabian Dance (“The Nutcracker”), Yaropolk and Vladimir (Mdivany’s “Passion”), Minkus’ Solor (“La Bayadere”) and Espada (“Don Quixote”), Adam’s Hans (“Giselle”), Conrad and Birbanto (“Le Corsaire”), Phoebus and Claude (Pugni’s “La Esmeralda”), Girei (Asafiev’s “The Fountain of Bakhchisarai”), Tristan (Troyan’s “Tristan and Isolde”), José (Shchedrin’s “Carmen-Suite”), Golden Slave (Rimsky-Korsakov’s “Sheherazade”), Student (Gavrilin’s “Anyuta”), Man (MacMillan’s “Song of the Earth”), soloist part in Edur’s “Silent Monologues” among others.

In 2011, he was awarded the Francysk Skaryna Medal for outstanding creative achievements, professionalism and considerable contribution to the development of national culture and arts.

„Swan Lake“ premiered at the Estonian National Opera in April 15, 2016. The choreographer and stage director of the new redaction is Thomas Edur. Designer is Thomas Mika (Germany) and lighting designer Steen Bjarke (Denmark). Starring Alena Shkatula or Ketlin Oja (Odette / Ottilie) and Denis Klimuk (Prince Siegfried). Conductor is Lauri Sirp.
