Premiere of Estonian National Opera’s summer musical “West Side Story” by Bernstein
On May 24, legendary musical “West Side Story” by Leonard Bernstein will premiere at the Estonian National Opera.
For the first time in Estonia, it is possible to hear the musical in Estonian as well as in English. An outstanding double cast of the best Estonian and London musical actors was elected through castings held in Tallinn, Stockholm and London. Cast in Estonian language performances features Hanna-Liina Võsa, Piret Krumm, Heldur Harry Põlda, Tamar Nugis and Juss Haasma. Starring in English language performances are Jade Davies, Nicole Deon, Cameron Sharp, Davide Fienarui and Jeronimas Milius.
In other roles: Kaarel Targo, Silver Laas, Norman Salumäe, Karl-Erik Tamme, Maarius Pärn, Mihkel Tikerpalu, Kärt Anton, Kethi Uibomägi, Saara Kadak, Nele-Liis Vaiksoo, Anett Viinalass, Reigo Tamm, René Soom, Jaak Jõekallas.
Inspired by Shakespeare’s tumultuous love story “Romeo and Juliet”, and set amidst the rivalry of teenage gangs in 1950s New York, “West Side Story’s” revolutionary choreography and unforgettable score changed the face of musical theatre.
