Estonian National Opera performs powerful Requiem by Berlioz

18.02.2019 / Alisson Kruusmaa

On March 7, Estonian National Opera Orchestra and Chorus will perform a grand concert at the Estonian Concert Hall Under the baton of the artistic director and chief conductor Vello Pähn. Concert features Requiem by Hector Berlioz. Soloist will be tenor Mehis Tiits.

The Requiem has been charactarized as an extraordinary and a grand work, but also as beautiful and heartbreaking. The original score has been composed for nearly 400 musicians, but nowadays it is mostly performed in a version adapted to the venue. Nevertheless, the piece will still sound powerful at the National Opera’s concert – in addition to Estonian National Opera Orchestra and Chorus, the Estonian National Male Choir and Chamber Choir Voces Musicales will also join the performance
