“Faust” surprises with guest-soloists

The far-famed bass Ain Anger will be seen on the stage of Estonian National Opera again on December 20th and 27th as Mephistopheles in Gounod’s opera “Faust”.

Ain Anger: “To play the role of Mephistopheles is definitely a lot more fun than some of the profoundly kind hearted characters because there is so much more material. Satan has everything in it that a human-being has – goodness, misery, sense of humour – and my mission is to show his daily life. The opera was written in the time when the pressure of church and dogmas set very strict boundaries to people. Nevertheless, we have always had the side to us that seeks for freedom and salvation.”

On December 20 and 27 the title role will be sung by Luc Robert and the role of Marguerite by Perrine Madoeuf (France). The conductor is Arvo Volmer.
