New guest soloists in “La traviata”
“La traviata” on 11 June will surprise with two young guest soloists – Marie Fajtová in the role of Violetta and Raimonds Bramanis in the role of Alfredo. The performace will be conducted by Risto Joost.
Marie Fajtová first studied piano at Prague Conservatory (1992–1998) and then singing with Professor Jiří Kotouč (1998–2003). Currently she is studying with the American soprano Nancy Henninger. In 1994 she won the International Bedřich Smetana piano competition. In the year 2004 she was a finalist in the Antonín Dvořák International Singing Competition, where she won an award to perform with the Prague Symphonic Orchestra FOK. In the season 2005/2006 she was a member of the J. K. Tyl Theatre in Pilsen where she created the roles of Norina (Donizetti’s “Don Pasquale”) and Fiordiligi (Mozart’s “Cosí fan tutte”). Since the season 2007/2008 she is a soloist with the National Theatre Opera in Prague. Her repertoire includes Violetta (Verdi’s “La traviata”), Mozart’s Donna Elvira (“Don Giovanni”), Susanna (“Le nozze di Figaro”), Pamina (“Die Zauberflöte”), Frasquita (Bizet’s “Carmen”), Barče (Smetana’s “The Kiss”), Despino (Martinů’s “The Greek Passion”), Nedda (Leoncavallo’s “Pagliacci”), Lauretta (Puccini’s “Gianni Schicchi”), Serpina (Pergolesi’s “La serva padrona”), etc. Baroque music forms an important part of her repertoire. She has worked with the following music groups: Capella Regia, Collegium Marianum, Collegium 1704 and Camerata Nova. In 2006 she created the title role in Händel’s “Alcina” for the festival in Valtice.
Raimonds Bramanis graduated from Jāzeps Vītols Latvian Academy of Music in 2007. Currently he continues his studies with Prof. Paolo De Napoli. Raimonds Bramanis made his debut at the Latvian National Opera as Papageno in Mozart’s “Die Zauberflöte” (2008). Before turning to the tenor repertoire, he sung baritone roles, such as Belcore (Donizetti’s “L’elisir d’amore”) and Masetto (Mozart’s “Don Giovanni”). During the season 2009/2010 Raimonds Bramanis made a transition to tenor repertoire with the role of Ismaele Verdi’s (“Nabucco”) and Macduff (“Macbeth”). In August 2010, he made his debut as Alfredo in “La traviata”. Besides Latvian National Opera he has sung in Theater Magdeburg (Germany) and Smetana Hall (Czech Republic). In 2012, Raimonds Bramanis took part in the concert performance of Verdi’s “Otello” with the Latvian National Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Karel Mark Chichon.
