International Dance Day with the Estonian National Ballet and guests
This year, Estonian National Ballet cooperates with Vanemuine Theatre to celebrate the International Dance Day. On May 3, the ballet troupe of Vanemuine will give a performance of Giorgio Madia’s ballet “La dolce vita” in the first part of the dance day ballet gala in Tallinn. The one-act-ballet is inspired by Fellini’s film of the same name and premiered in Tartu on April 30 in honour of the 75. anniversary of Vanemuine ballet troupe.
The second half of the evening features an exclusive gala of ballet, performed by the soloists of the Estonian National Ballet as well as internationally renowned guests. The gala features principal dancers of the Finnish National Ballet Maria Baranova and Tuukka Piitulainen, who will perform the pas de deux “Talisman” from Drigo’s ballet of the same name. In addition, Maria Baranova pairs up with the premiere dancer of the Estonian National Ballet, Sergei Upkin to dance Diana and Acteon pas de deux from Pugni’s “La Esmeralda”.
Traditionally, ERGO Dance Award will be given to one female and one male dancer.
