Thu 01.03 at 19.00 PIAZZOLLA FOREVER A fascinating Argentinean tango project consisting purely of the best songs from amongst the unforgettable works composed by the king of tango – Astor Piazzolla. Video clips from Argentina, from the streets and tango halls of Buenos Aires and of Astor Piazzolla himself offer a real visual treat. The performers include Kersti Ala-Murr (vocals), Jaak Lutsoja (accordion), Tanel Liiberg (contrabass) and Külli Mariste (video).

Tue 06.03 at 19.00 GYPSY CAMP Claudia Shevtshenko has been studying different gypsy cultures for several decades and has worked with Valentina Ponomarjeva, well-known singer of gipsy music, in Moscow. She has also starred in the stage production The Gypsy Camp Goes to Heaven (stage director: Andres Noormets, Tartu Emajõe Summer Theater, 2004). This new concert programme was prepared in cooperation with well-known Estonian musicians. The performers include Claudia Shevtshenko (vocals, dancing), Jaan Sööt (guitar, vocals), Toomas Lunge (keyboard instruments, vocals), Indrek Kalda (violin, mandolin).

Tue 13.03 at 19.00 TRANSILVANIAN DANCES Hungary is a country whose native music has inspired many composers, including Brahms, Liszt and Bartók. Bartók has made the most of the Magyar melodies, whereas Liszt and Brahms have used more the rhythmic melodies of the hotblooded gypsies of the Transilvanian areas. Kristina Kriit (violin) and Diana Liiv (piano) perform Brahms’ The Hungarian Dances, Scherzo Op. 4, Sonata for Violin and Piano No. 1, G Major Op. 78, Bartók’s Romanian Folk Dances Sz. 56 and Liszt’s Hungarian Rhapsody No. 2 C-sharp minor S 244/2.

Tue 27.03 at 19.00 EDITH ja MARLENE The programme is dedicated to the two divas, great artists and performers of the 20th century who knew each other well. Edith Piaf has sung, “No, I regret nothing, neither the good that I’ve done nor the bad,” and Marlene Dietrich has added, “I’m made for love from head to toe.” The concert brings to you the accordion from a Parisian street corner and the lights from a Berlin cabaret. The two-part programme includes well-known songs in French, German and English from the divas’ repertoire. Performed by Erkki Otsman (vocals), Andranik Kechek (piano), Jaak Lutsoja (accordion) and Tanel Liiberg (contrabass).

The film was made famous by the beloved opera star, coloratura soprano Miliza Korjus. In addition to beautiful melodies from the Hollywood music film, the most famous pieces from operettas and operas are performed by Kadri Kipper (coloratura soprano) and Rauno Elp (baritone), Tarmo Eespere (piano).

The Gourmet Duo, created in 2010 by Yvetta Uustalu (vocals, piano) and Tõnis Tüür (contrabass), has become increasingly popular and they have performed also in Luxembourg and at the International Festival of Vocal Jazz in Moscow. In 2010 Gourmet Duo released their popular album “Secret Alliance”. Come and hear for yourself! In addition to the Duo, there are also two surprise guests.
