The first live broadcast of an opera premiere for the Estonian television audience
On January 28, ETV will make a live broadcast of the premiere of The Love for Three Oranges, the stage production of the Estonian National Opera, which is regarded as one of the most important cultural events of the year. At the same time, ETV2 will provide a live coverage of the events that take place backstage. This is the very first live broadcast of an opera premiere in the history of Estonian television. The live broadcast on ETV will start at 19.00, an hour before the opera will begin. Three hosts — Ruth Alaküla, Marko Reikop and Anatoli Tafitšuk — will take the viewer from the theatre hall to the backstage, where the last hectic preparations are made. According to the production team, the highly informational live programme that, once the opera has started, continues on ETV2 may even be spiced with humour. The backstage live coverage will be broadcast on ETV2 from 19.55 till 22.30.

The Estonian National Opera Ballet Company became the Estonian National Ballet
Today, in the afternoon of March 2, the Estonian National Opera Ballet Company was ceremoniously announced the Estonian National Ballet. The ballet of the National Opera, that became 90 years old in 2008, will give the first premiere under the new aegis already the day after tomorrow, on March 4, when Leo Delibes’s "Coppélia", a staging with a special significance, will be staged. "Coppélia" was the first full-length ballet in the repertoire of the dance company of the theatre in 1922. The current staging will be brought out in Estonia by the English choreographer Ronald Hynd, the musical director of the show is Mihhail Gerts.

Tickets for the 105th season available now
Tickets for the 105th season of the Estonian National Opera are available from March 1. The new season will start on September 8, the first premiere will take place already on September 16 when Imre Kalmani’s operetta "Die Czárdásfürstin" will be presented to the audience. The director of the operetta is Mart Sander who will make his debut as a stage director and designer.

Estonian National Opera's guest performances in Hungary
On June 11 and 12, Estonian National Opera will give two guest performances at the international opera festival Bartók + Európa 2010. It is a cultural event held every summer in Miskolc. The 105th Season at the Estonian National Opera
The upcoming season will bring along many fascinating productions of all genres. Theatre goers will be treated to treasured classics as well as theatrical works less known in Estonia. Altogether, there will be ten new productions, six concerts and guest performances in Riga, Pärnu, Jõhvi, Paide and Tartu. All in all, the theatre has planned 277 performances for the new season.

Ticket office and bank transactions during the holidays
The ticket office of the Estonian National Opera is open on December 23 from 11.00 till 16.00, whilst it is closed on December 24-26 and January 1-5. On other days, the ticket office is open as usual from 11.00 till 19.00.
